National Night Out

Get Out & Meet Your Neighbors

National Night Out is October 6, 2020.

Need a reason for a block party? Plan one for next year and get to know your neighbors and local officials, all while learning how to fight crime. National Night Out is a annual nationwide observance sponsored by local police departments to encourage interaction between neighbors as a crime prevention tool. Law enforcement officials also use the event to teach other safety measures to residents. Neighborhoods throughout  Mansfield are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the "Annual National Night Out" (NNO) crime and drug prevention event.

Mansfield Nation Night Out has grown to more than 50 neighborhood parties registered city wide. The City has received national recognition for the combined city wide efforts.

National Night Out GatheringOur Focus

  • We focus on neighbors getting to know and socialize with each other, with the goal that the more they get to know each other, the more likely they are to watch out for each other. This would enable them to know what activity is normal and what is suspicious, then to take action. They are encouraged to meet neighbors surrounding their homes by completing forms with contact information.
  • Mansfield PD will ask residents to focus on crime prevention that results in their own neighborhood crime watch. This allows neighbors to share information and aids in organizing their own crime watch prevention on keeping homes, neighborhoods and the city safe.

Goals and Objectives

  • heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
  • generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts
  • strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships
  • send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
